THE CUSTOM DESIGN PROCESS
At Lilly & Louise, we create unique, one-of-a-kind designs for your special occasion or everyday pleasure. We love to hear the story behind your event and the great ideas you have planned.
The design process begins with a complimentary design consultation. This can happen in person, over the phone, or via email. This is your chance to tell us what you have in mind for the piece. Feel free to express your creativity, share details about the occasion, your favorite colors or any other ideas you have. This helps us find a starting point for the design. If you can’t decide, don’t worry, we at Lilly & Louise are here to help you, plus we always love a good challenge. Part of this process is considering the kind of printing you want, such as letterpress or flat printing (and a few other techniques). We're happy to show you samples and share any recommendations with you. Once you’re confident that we understand your ideas, we will present you with a proposal and an estimate of costs. This usually takes about one week to prepare, depending on the specifics.
Since our designs are custom, our pricing is also custom and is handled on an individual basis.
Our customwedding invitation pakages (invitation, envelope, reply card + envelope or postcard, and information card) start at $1000 for flat printing and $1800 for letterpress (based on an order of 100 invitation packages).
Party invitations, Save-the-date cards, birth announcements, and designs for other reasons to celebrate start at $4 per invitation for flat printing, and $7 per invitation for letterpress (price includes envelope).
Once you’ve approved your proposal and signed our contract, we’ll review details for your piece, such as wording or photos that need to be incorporated. Design begins once we have received the signed contract and deposit.
Now we’ll develop 2-4 original design concepts for your occasion. This initial process takes about 7-10 days. Once we’ve completed your designs, we will present them and you will have the opportunity to make changes to the wording or design. We’ll incorporate your changes into the selected design and present revisions. Once you sign off on these revisions, we’ll prepare the files for printing.
PRINTING AND PROOFS
We’ll send you a printing proof of the final design and an approval form. This is a very important step! It’s your last chance to review your piece carefully, proofing for spelling, grammar, layout and typography. Once you have sent us your signed approval form, Lilly & Louise cannot be responsible for mistakes.
START THE PRESSES!
After receiving your approval, we’ll begin the printing process. Turnaround time from approval of printing proof to receipt of printed material depends on the complexity of the piece, but is generally 10 business days to 2 weeks.
If your piece requires assembly of various components, the fine folks at Lilly & Louise will begin assembly. This can take up to 2 days.
